Home advantage appears to be a thing of the past in National One after six of the weekend’s eight games finished in away victories. Indeed, the overall

statistics for the season show that home wins account for just 59 per cent of the 80 games played. However normality could be restored this Saturday as the

following fixtures: Blaydon v Launceston, Cinderford v Redruth, Sedgley Park v Otley and Stourbridge v Tynedale – the remaining head- to- heads from last

season – all went the way of the home side in 2009/10.

Last weekend only London Scottish and Rosslyn Park secured victories on home soil, with the Exiles beating fellow title hopefuls Cambridge and Park

narrowing defeating Cinderford. London Scottish move up one place in the league table as a result of their 31-17 win, which included a first half hat- trick for

David Howells. Simon Amor’s men now go to divisional new boys Macclesfield who registered their third away win of the campaign with a 25-24 success at

Blackheath. Dave Allen joins the list of hat- trick heroes to end up on the losing side.

The most impressive victory on the road, though, came at Corbridge where leaders Barking emphasised their title credentials with an emphatic 41-17 win.

Coventry ran in five tries to win 36-23 at the Cornish All Blacks, while lowly Sedgley Park came away from Redruth with four valuable points, Stourbridge

acccounted for Otley at Cross Green and Blaydon defeated Wharfedale for the first time in seven attempts at this level.
