Phil Chesters has scored an incredible 18 tries with nearly two- thirds of the season still to go. The Ealing winger notched another four- timer as the league
leaders put struggling Shelford to the sword. Not to be outdone, centre Peter Hodgkinson also touched down four times as the west London club ran in 12
tries in total, all of which were converted by Neil Hallett, who added a try and a penalty for good measure.
Ealing stay a point clear of Jersey at the top of the table after the Channel Islanders also picked up maximum points – at Clifton. Third- placed Southend got
back to winning ways with a 38-5 home win over lowly Westcombe Park.
Nearly half of Richmond’s 49 tries this season have come from the forwards, and their on- song back row trio supplied one apiece against Worthing.
Richmond have now won eight on the bounce and are fourth in the table ahead of Taunton.
At the other end of the scale, Hinckley are on an 11- game losing run after going down 39-10 to Taunton. Newbury could have relegated Hinckley to the foot
of the table had they managed to hold on to a shock 7-3 half- time lead against Old Albanians. But Old A’s put in a much- improved second half performance
to run in seven tries and post 41 points without reply.
In the weekend’s two closest games, Dings edged out Henley at Dry Leas, while Brett Turner proved the match- winner for Lydney against Canterbury with
four penalties.
