The Pumas wrap up a 2-1 series win with a dramatic late victory in the third Test
Argentina Squad for Scotland Series 2022
A late try from Emiliano Boffelli sealed a dramatic 34-31 victory for Argentina over Scotland in Santiago del Estero – and 2-1 Test series win.
It was a highly entertaining match, with eight tries scored in all, but it was Boffelli’s late contribution that proved decisive.
The winger scored 19 points in all, converting his try as well as those of Santiago Carreras, Nahuel Tetaz Chaparro and Gonzalo Bertranou and kicking two penalties.
Scotland looked in control after Ewan Ashman and Duhan van der Merwe scored their second tries early in the second half, but the tourists were unable to close out the match and Boffelli had the final say.

Second Test – Argentina 6-29 Scotland
The historic three-Test series between Argentina and Scotland will be decided in next weekend’s third match after the Pumas failed to build on their 1-0 advantage in Salta.
They lost 29-6 to Scotland in the second Test; they conceded four tries and were unable to score a single point in the second half.
The Pumas had opportunities and spent several periods camped in the Scottish 22, but were not accurate enough to make it count on the scoreboard.
Guido Petti crossed but his try was ruled out for a forward pass earlier in the movement while Santiago Carreras and Emiliano Boffelli both lost the ball in the tackle as they headed over the line.

First Test – Argentina 26-18 Scotland
Argentina opened up a 1-0 lead in the three-Test series against Scotland by winning in Jujuy.
The Pumas were disrupted at half-back, with Tomas Cubelli ruled out before kick-off and Nicolas Sanchez injured early on, but they led 18-6 at half-time after scoring two tries in five minutes.
Jeronimo De La Fuente got the first, managing to ground the ball despite a lot of pressure from Scotland defenders, and then Santiago Carreras dived over from close range after an initial break from Juan Cruz Mallia.
Scotland drew level with two quick-fire tries themselves in the second half, Mark Bennett and Rory Hutchinson crossing. However, Argentina secured possession from the restart after the second and Gonzalo Bertranou was quick to ground the ball in the corner after picking it up at the back of ruck.
An Emiliano Boffelli penalty with ten minutes to go ultimately put the match out of reach for the visitors.
