Ospreys have loaned Tom Prydie to London Wasps until the end of the season. Prydie became Wales’ youngest international, aged 18 years and 25 days against Italy in 2010.
19 year old Prydie, who has played 12 times for the region since making his debut in 2009, reported for duty at Wasps today where he trained with his new team-mates for the first time.
Chief Operations Officer, Andrew Hore, explained: “Any decision made by the business will have both rugby and commercial implications, which need to be fully considered. We sat with Tom to discuss all options available to him regarding his ongoing development; people forget that he is still only 19 years of age.
“It was unanimously agreed with the player, his representative, the WRU and the region, that in the short term the best option for Tom was to be playing regular rugby on the first class stage, something which given the strength in his position here is not being afforded to him at present. With this in mind, we have agreed this short-term loan to enable him to get more exposure.
“Tom remains under contract to the Ospreys and is scheduled to return to the region in pre-season, in preparation for 2012/13.”
