When you’re ranked 19th in the world, sometimes playing in the Rugby World Cup isn’t all about the winning. For Uruguay, and their team of mostly amateurs, simply scoring a try was cause for huge celebration.

The last time the Los Teros crossed the whitewash at the World Cup was in Brisbane back in 2003, when current coach Pablo Lemoine burst through England‘s Andy Gomarsall during a 111-13 pummelling.

So when prop Carlos Arboleya touched down after 16 minutes of their game against Fiji on Tuesday there were jubilant scenes.

Uruguay eventually succumbed 47-15 to the Fijians, leaving them winless through their first three games. Los Teros face a dejected, and much-changed, England squad on Saturday evening, with both teams knowing it will be their final outing of the tournament.

While the scoreline is unlikely to be as emphatic as it was in 2003, England will be looking for a dominant performance to end their campaign on a high.
