Japan have lit up the RWC and that enthusiasm has clearly rubbed off at home but it seems Boris Johnson wanted to remind a young lad who nation invented the sport

Boris Johnson seems to have taken England’s World Cup exit personally. The rugby-mad Mayor of London was on an official trip to Japan but skittled over a child during a game of ‘touch’ rugby.
He took out the 10-year-old schoolboy as he raced down the mini turf pitch in Tokyo. The youngster was in a bit of pain after being hit by 16st Boris, but thankfully, that was not enough to stop him from getting up and playing again.

Toki Sekiguchi said: “I felt a little bit of pain but it’s OK.”
He added that meeting the mayor had been an “enjoyable” experience. Not sure about “enjoyable” being the correct word after that tackle, but credit to the young man. We’re sure Eddie Jones will be on the phone soon.
Boris Johnson has history of going hard in a challenge. He also did a similar thing during a charity football match between England and Germany, where he ressembled Dan Lydiate with a chop-tackle. After both of these performances, maybe Boris would like to take up the sport full time after he relinquishes his mayoral duties next year!
