SHROPSHIRE village club Highley have lost all their rugby equipment in a suspected arson attack which destroyed the hut they used for changing and storage.
Highley, who play social rugby outside the league structure, were formed just five years ago are one of the newest, but smallest, clubs in the Midlands.
The cause of the fire is still being investigated but equipment worth almost £4,000, including match balls, post protectors, tackle bags and kit, was destroyed.
“We are only too aware of the costs of equipment and the difficulties of raising money for our own clubs’ needs, be we would appeal to the rugby family within North Midlands and further afield, for any assistance that can be offered,” said Shropshire secretary Bryn Roberts.
Anyone able to help Highley with replacement kit or equipment should contact chairman Don Goulden at: goulden0@aol.con, secretary Rob Parr at: rob.parr@gknaerospace.com.
