Bath claimed fourth place in the Premiership and a trip to Leicester, and although they won’t admit they’ll be kicking themselves that they missed out on third place and a trip to Harlequins.
Bath coach Steve Meehan said it would be disrespectful to Harlequins to say they had missed out, and that is what I would expect him to say. But is there any team in the rugby world who would rather go to Leicester than Harlequins? Even the most ardent Quins fan might admit it is a slightly more difficult proposition!
In the end I thought Bath’s lack of urgency in the final five minutes, although they did score one try was a mistake. Why on earth was Brad Davis taking a conversion (which wasted 40 seconds) with the score 33-11 and three minutes left on the clock. Just get back to the centre and claim the kick off? But it does set up a magnificent semi-final, between two of the giants of English rugby, so who am I to complain?

Andy Higgins: Gets better and better. His quick feet and speed in the first 20 metres mark him out as a player who should get a Saxons call this summer as he has the potential to play for England. But needs to be given the chance

Steve Borthwick: Spikey, in your face and physical! We need to see more of this Steve Borthwick in an England shirt.

Adam Powell: One of the brightest prospects in English rugby, but now that Andy Farrell has moved on to the coaching staff surely Powell can get a start at his best position of inside centre.

Tom Mercey: England are very excited about this young prop (21) and it is easy to see why. He might need a bit of filling out, but let’s hope – like Powell – with Cobus Visagie on the coaching staff, he is given the games to prove be could go to the very top.
