David Beckham will be there, Martyn Williams is keen (but the Blues play the Dragons that night) and Brian O’Driscoll is on list but All Blacks captain Richie McCaw has become one of the first people to turn down an invitation to Prince William’s marriage to Kate Middleton.
About 1900 guests have been invited to the wedding at Westminster Abbey in London on 29 April and McCaw is one of the first to say no as he’ll be in the middle of the Super 15 season with the Crusaders.
McCaw says, to tvnz.co.nz, he needs to concentrate on recovering from his foot injury and getting back on the field, adding “things may have been different” had it not been a World Cup year.
An unscientific viewer poll on TV ONE’s Breakfast showed 45% of respondents thought McCaw should have accepted the invitation.
