Was rugby always your top sport?

I played football until I went to comprehensive school, but it was a bit soft for my liking!

Is openside your favourite position?

Yes. I get more into the game at openside, make more tackles and win more turnovers.

Who’s had the biggest influence on you?

Dale McIntosh. I started working with him when I was 15 and I still do now. He coached me through Cardiff Blues’ age grades and with Wales U18.

You’ve had plenty of game time with Cardiff RFC this season – have you learned a lot?

It has been really great. All I want to do is play.

Who were your boyhood rugby heroes?

Martyn Williams lives locally to me so he was a big hero of mine. Michael Owen too – I admire him because he is really skilful and he was my Wales U18 coach. Neil Jenkins is my cousin and we always have a chat when we see each other.

Do you enjoy being captain of Wales U20?

It’s a big honour to be asked to lead your country. I captained the U18s two years ago too.

What is your next aim?

I hope to get a bit of game time for the Blues before the end of this season and even more next season.

We have been together about a year and I can see her more often now she’s back from London.
