FLOWN OUT from America following Ireland’s narrow win over the USA, Zebo has been called up to cover for Tommy Bowe, who picked up a hand injury against Queensland Reds. The Irishman was close to the selection in the original 37-man squad and has grown in importance for Munster over the past couple of seasons. A great character with a dangerous skill-set.
WHY SELECTED
Quick, skilful and versatile. He may be relatively inexperienced in international terms, injuries not helping his cause, but he has the ability to produce something out of nothing with his footwork. He can be a real threat in attack and is pretty solid without the ball too.
TEST PROSPECTS
With Tommy Bowe out for at least the first Test depending on how he recovers from surgery on is hand, George North and Alex Cuthbert now look set to start on the wings against Australia, but Zebo’s flexibility to cover full-back as well could see him challenge for a bench spot. However, he’ll have limited game time to present his case ahead of the opening Test in Brisbane.
GREATEST DAY
Ireland’s 30-22 win over Wales this year. Not only did he score a try, but a sublime ankle flick on the ball also created another – a great piece of ‘Tekkers’.
IF HE WERE A FOOD
Popping candy – a treat, full of surprises.
