Nottingham Rugby have confirmed the retirement of Martin Halsall from front row rugby due to the recurrence of a neck injury.
Blackpool born Halsall joined the Green and Whites from Sale Sharks last November and became an immediate hit in Glenn Delaney’s pack.
The Nottingham DoR said that Nottingham would miss the experience and quality of the prop.
“Martin joined us last year and made a clear impact immediately.
“He’ll be a big loss to the position and we’re all incredibly grateful for the brilliant role he’s played for us.
“Playing in the front row is something that always brings risk and the retirement of Martin from the position is a huge shame for him as a player, as well as the club as a whole.”
Halsall picked up the Green Army Home Supporters Player of the Year Award this weekend after just 6 months with the club, a prize based on votes from Meadow Lane fans.
The club would like to extend its deepest gratitude for the service Martin Halsall has delivered to Nottingham Rugby this season.
