EDINBURGH WING Lee Jones will win his first cap for Scotland in their opening RBS 6 Nations game against England on Saturday at Murrayfield.
Jones is the only uncapped player in Andy Robinson’s line-up, while his club mates Ross Rennie and David Denton, both back-row forwards, will make their first starts in the championship. Rennie forces John Barclay, for so long Scotland’s first-choice openside, onto the bench.
Robinson said: “I’ve been pleased with the consistency Lee Jones has shown and he fully deserves to win his first cap.
“Form has played a part in selection. Edinburgh’s qualification for the Heineken Cup quarter-finals and Glasgow’s performances in the RaboDirect Pro12 mean that competition for places has intensified, particularly in the back row.”
Scarlets wing Sean Lamont comes into the centre, where he proved so effective for Scotland during last year’s Six Nations, while his brother Rory starts at full-back.
Dan Parks and Chris Cusiter team up at half-back with Edinburgh’s Mike Blair and Greig Laidlaw are on the bench, while Jim Hamilton’s bulk will complement Richie Gray’s athleticism in the engine room.
