A video showing mini rugby players how to grip the ball – and test that grip
Rain or shine, having a good grip on the ball is essential. So learning the correct technique is crucial – and practising will help improve mini rugby players’ passing ability and reduce their chances of dropping the ball.
The key is to have ten points of contact on the ball – so all your fingers and thumbs – and your hands should be spread wide. Watch the video above to see how to grip the ball as well as a game to test and improve your grip.
This is just one of a series of videos Rugby World has put together to show mini rugby players how to perform various skills, from the switch to the two-on-one. The aim is to help improve players’ all-round game.
Every month Rugby World magazine features a ‘How To’ guide on a specific technique and a fun game to use in training that will keep the players entertained and help develop skills like the teamwork, communication, support play and evasive running.
