The Cathay Pacific/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens is an exciting enough event, but kids attending an HSBC festival of rugby got a special treat earlier this week.
Not only were they being coached by sevens Legend Waisale Serevi and Ireland hero Brian O’Driscoll, but the kids from the International School were able to see the two trying out a few tricks on each other. In this video you can see O’Driscoll taking on Serevi in a five-metre channel, taking the ball behind himself, kicking it over Serevi’s head with his heal and catching it on the other side.
What didn’t make the cut was also O’Driscoll faking a hamstring pull and then sprinting past Serevi. The famous Fijian also talked through his goose-step, attributing Australia‘s David Campese with showing him how it was done whilst playing sevens.
The event took place the day after Serevi was honoured with an award for being the Greatest Sevens Player of All Time, by HSBC and Rugby World, as well as being named in the Magnificent Seven – the seven greatest players from the last 40 years of Hong Kong Sevens – alongside Jonah Lomu, David Campese, Christian Cullen, Ben Gollings, Eric Rush and Zhang Zhiqiang.
