Bevon Armitage has become Plymouth Albion’s third back signing of the summer.

The experienced centre, who has played for Moseley, Nice, Doncaster, Esher and Brixham, follows in the footsteps of Hartpury College’s James Love and Blackheath’s Tyson Lewis is moving to Brickfields for the 2011/12 season.

Armitage’s switch to Albion sees him return to Devon – the county where he started his senior rugby career.

“We are delighted Bevon is on board for next season,” said Plymouth’s chairman of rugby Graham Dawe.

The Albion boss has also confirmed that Canadian international number eight Aaron Carpenter has agreed a new deal at Brickfields.

The 28-year-old, who scored six tries in his debut season at Albion, has followed prop Ryan Hopkins, lock Dan Collier, scrum-half Ruairi Cushion, flanker Wayne Sprangle and centres Keni Fisilau and Cameron Mitchell in extending his stay with the Devon side.

Carpenter is included in Canada’s squad to play in the Churchill Cup, which gets underway this coming weekend.

However, Albion captain Sean-Michael Stephen has had to pull out of the Canada party for the six-team competition due to the back injury he picked up in the Championship play-offs.
