Nottingham currently sit one place above Doncaster and know that victory over their regional rivals will provide a momentum boost ahead of away trips to Cornish Pirates and London Welsh in the coming weeks.
Glenn Delaney’s Nottingham squad have already played eight games in 2011 and also know that a long trip to Llanelli in the British and Irish Cup lies in wait after the December fixture was postponed due to Health and Safety concerns.
With just one game left at Meadow Lane before the play-off pools begin, Director of Rugby Delaney believes tomorrow’s match, which will allow under 16s to enter the game for just £1, will be a crunch tie for his ambitious side.
Speaking from the Lady Bay training ground yesterday, he said: “The Donny game will be a tough test after playing against a strong Worcester side on Sunday evening. This will be the last time we play in front of the home crowd before the play-off pools begin, so we have a great chance to press home that advantage against a good side. ”
“We know that Doncaster will bring a powerful team who will want to win after the weekend’s results. Things are very tight in the middle of the table and we’ll be keeping our heads down and focusing on getting the job done.”
“The pile-up of fixtures has meant we’ve had to rest and rotate some players over the last few weeks, we’ve been fortunate with injuries so far, but there is a massive distance to go this year, with some incredibly difficult games on the way. ”
Fitness assessments are taking place leading up to tomorrow’s fixture, with the Green and Whites looking to field their strongest possible side to thwart Doncaster and fully unleash their attacking power across the pitch.
